Meet Our Associate Doctors

Dr. Mike Cotzas

Dr. Mike Cotzas grew up in upstate New York.  He attended New York University where he majored in biology as an undergraduate.  Dr. Cotzas went on to Columbia University, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.  He completed a General Practice Residency at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens.  Dr. Cotzas completed his post-doctoral training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Cotzas is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, Northeastern Society of Orthodontists, and the New York State Dental Association.

Dr. Cotzas enjoys attending conferences in order to keep up to date with the latest techniques, technologies,  newest information and methods around the country.

 

Dr. Renée Nykolak

Dr. Renée Nykolak is passionate about creating beautiful smiles. She is dedicated to providing the highest level of care while utilizing the newest technologies. She strives to create a fun treatment environment and make every patient feel at home.

Dr. Nykolak was born and raised on Long Island, where she graduated top of her class from Long Beach High School. She then attended Lehigh University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and graduated with High Honors. She then earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and graduated with Honors in Clinical Dentistry. After eight years in Pennsylvania, Dr. Nykolak moved to Michigan where she completed her specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and earned her Masters of Science degree.

When she is not in the office, Dr. Nykolak enjoys staying active, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Northeast Society of Orthodontists.

 

Dr. Matthew Miller

Dr. Matthew Miller joined the Island Orthodontics team in 2016. Originally from East Setauket, he attended Gelinas JHS and Ward Melville HS. Before completing 3 years of orthodontic specialty training at NYU, he attended Boston College, NYU College of Dentistry, and completed a General Practice Residency at Stony Brook University. At NYUCD, Dr. Miller graduated in the top 5% of his class and was invited into the OKU honor society. He has multiple publications on the History and Prevention of White Spots in orthodontics and has been trained in the most up-to-date technology in the field of orthodontics.

In his spare time, Dr. Miller enjoys tennis, swimming, live music, and car shows.

 

Dr. Devin Zolnowski

Dr. Devin Zolnowski was born and raised in New Jersey. He graduated from New York University, where he earned a degree in Economics and was captain of the Men’s Varsity Volleyball team. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine where he graduated in the top ten of his class. Dr. Zolnowski furthered his dental education and completed a one-year general practice residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical center. He then returned to New York once again to complete his specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at Maimonides Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident in his final year.

When he is not in the office, Dr. Zolnowski enjoys spending time with his wife, playing games, and staying fit. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Northeast Society of Orthodontists.

 

Dr. Princy Kuriakose

Dr. Kuriakose grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Georgia Institute of Technology and Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of Detroit Mercy in Michigan. She continued her education in an additional 3 year advanced training program in Orthodontics and obtained her Master of Science degree from University of Washington in Seattle. While in school, Dr. Kuriakose has been involved in many scientific research projects and has published articles in dentistry journals. Dr. Kuriakose is a Board-Certified Orthodontist, an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and continues her learning through Orthodontic conferences and continuing education courses.

In her free time, Dr. Princy enjoys exploring new places with her husband, baking and staying active.

 

Dr. Bronwyn McAndrews

Dr. Bronwyn McAndrews was born and raised in New York. After attending LIU Post, she moved cross-country to attend the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, where she was elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society, and was a member of the Southern Academy of Oral Pathology. The East Coast called her back, attending the University of Connecticut for her orthodontic residency. Following her residency, Dr. McAndrews then practiced in Fairfield Ct. for a few years, before moving back to Long Island. After practicing in Levittown for many years, she decided to join our team. Over the years, Dr. McAndrews has enjoyed membership in the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, Nassau County Dental Society, and the state dental societies of New York, California and Connecticut. Dr. McAndrews comes to us with over 30 years of experience, and likes to provide conservative and comfortable treatment plans for her patients.

In her spare time, she and her husband have travelled to all seven continents, with the highlight being a honeymoon in Antarctica. They are the proud parents of twins, Tim and Tad.
